Seminar Series & Workshops
We host various invited speakers throughout the year as part of our named lecture series and workshops.
In 2019, WIC initiated the first student-invited named lecture series in the Department of Chemistry. This series, named after the late Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour, aims to celebrate diversity in chemistry by providing a platform for chemists who do outstanding work both in the lab and in promoting diversity and inclusivity within chemistry.
We began the Diversity in STEMinar speaker series as part of WIC’s ongoing effort open the discussion on the importance of diversity and promote discussions around diversity and inclusivity in STEM.
We strive to arrange a series of opportunities for our members to network and work towards improving themselves. We have partnered with University of Alberta resources to provide free workshops aimed at professional development, increasing the awareness of unconscious biases, heightening stress management and mindfulness, etc.
